Bounce

I've been digitally colouring an artwork for the next book most of today... just to see if it wants to be digitally coloured.
In the end, it came out nice, I think. So I coloured one of the warm-up drawings I did some days ago, just for fun, because it's sunny.

Which software are you using?

Also, here is something nice about your book I found today :) - http://infantbibliophile.blogspot.com/2009/05/what-my-child-is-reading-this-week-new.html

Oooh that's a nice review. Hooray!

I'm using Gimp, which is a free software you can get here: www.gimp.org
It's very similar to Photoshop, not as good in some ways but good enough in most ways.

I have seen some work on GIMP, but I hadn't seen the kind of watercolor effect you achieved earlier. Good job there.

I was vicariously pleased to read the review too :) In the time honored way of name-droppers, I almost commented on that post about how I read your blog - which is more than a trifle silly, so I am glad I refrained. But it made me more determined to get your book someday (alas that there can't be anything more definite!).

Ah, the watercolour effect is actually watercolour, scanned in.

Haha, first time I got a blog review I commented on it myself and felt silly for a whole week.

Or if you mean the texture... that's an overlay.

I meant the trousers - the water like staining there - that is real watercolor, no?

That's watered down indian ink, scanned in and turned brown. The original drawing is somewhere in here

Oh, of course!
