Snowman Invasion

Here's a quick Flickr search showing the kind of thing going on in my neighborhood today...

OOOOOOO! How FUN! Are you making one too? I bet yours is a cat or something and not just a plain old snowman....

Yay I did :D

It was great! There were so many families out - parents couldn't go to work (all buses cancelled, trains not running properly, driving near impossible) and school got cancelled, too. It's already the heaviest snowfall in 18 years...
There were people photographing each other just sitting in the snow, shouting: "He's mad! He's sitting in the snow! Let me sit in the snow!" like they'd never seen snow before. Maybe they hadn't...

Completely crazy day.

The only people I seriously got angry about were the ones who went to have coffee and left their dogs tied up outside the cafe, shivering in the snow. We went and complained - at least one of them was there over an hour, and looked like an old dog, too. They asked everyone in the cafe and no one owned up for ages. I know dogs can take a lot of that sort of thing, but it seemed unreasonable. I think they hadn't quite thought it through... there were people about with Ugg boots and short skirts and bare legs and suchlike, too. It's seemingly not a hard-wired mental connection for everyone here that snow = cold.
