I am researching international monsters... if anyone knows of some good reference books let me know!

Here's a great website about Japanese ones... have a browse, they are really wonderful.

There is a book about beasts by Fantagraphics Books, came out in 2006 called BEASTS and another book, without pictures though by Jorge Louis Borges called 'El libro de los seres imaginarios' but you probably know about them. Anyway, hello from Athens-Greece, I read your blog very often!

AAAH Sophiiiiaaaaa!!!

Hello :D so nice to read you! You know, I was thinking you'd be the person to ask!
I know the Louis Borges one (I ahve to get my own copy though) but not the Fantagraphics. I'm still catching up with publications past 2004 or so!

I think I should also get that book with the dancing many-tailed god animals.
