The Amazing Screw-On Head

So... one of my favourite comics has been animated! And one may pre-order the DVD on Amazon.
I've looked at some clips on YouTube and it looks amazingly much like Mignola's artwork, but I am not sure as yet that I like it... it's strange to see these little guys move and talk. Hmmm.
Very exciting though!

When it first came out (couple of years back?) the entire thing was viewable online (legitimately) somewhere. It's pretty good mostly and, so far as I recall, captures the mad knockabout humour of the source material well but, as a friend pointed out, it looks so great because most of the visuals are lifted pretty directly from the original one-shot comic. Had it been commissioned as a series someone would have had to come up with a whole bunch of original stuff in a Mignola style so it may be no bad thing that it only exists as the single pilot episode.

Mm, it does look a lot like the artwork, doesn't it... I don't know, I wish it was better paced (from the bits I saw), it seems like there's no space between things happening at all. But it's hard for anything on youtube to have much athmosphere, it's all so tiny...
Is the pilot episode quite long then? They must have added quite a bit of material, I noticed characters taken from Hellboy-stories.
Anyway, it reminded me of watching a He-Man/She-Ra animation when I was small, a pilot or a special, the one where they are siblings, then there's lots of biffing and magic objects, and He-Man cries one tear at the end, and it was so brilliant. I would have absolutely LOVED this back then, I'm sure!

I think it's about 20 minutes, or just over. I think I quite liked the frenetic pace of it. The comic bowls along at quite a clip after all.

I quite like that it's now this singular thing - a pilot episode that didn't get commissioned to a series based on a one off comic book that was never meant to go any further than that.

I thought I was the only person who bought it!

It turned up in the comic shop without a noise, I bought it on sight and stuck it in a plastic bag...

I rather want to watch the whole thing now.
